What Is A QA Engineer?
A Software Tester, also known as a Quality Assurance (QA), Analysts/Engineer are responsible for the final step in the development of a software application, program or website product before it is released to the public. QA analysts look for flaws and weaknesses in the program.
Software Testers make anywhere between $75,000 to $129,000
QA Engineers help verify that the software is working properly by providing bug and defect-free software and making sure it is built to the client's needs and expectations before and after it is released to the public or user.
Why Become a QA Engineer Without Coding Skills in the Age of AI and Automation?
In today’s tech-driven world, many believe coding is essential for a career in software, but as a QA Engineer, you can build a rewarding career without the need for advanced programming skills. With the rise of AI and automation, manual testers and QA Engineers are more important than ever, and here’s why:
1. Critical Thinking Over Coding: QA Engineers play a vital role in software development by ensuring that products work seamlessly for users. While automation tools can handle repetitive tasks, they lack the human insight needed to identify usability issues, edge cases, and real-world scenarios that may cause failures. Your problem-solving skills and attention to detail are your most valuable assets.
2. No Code, No Problem: Many QA testing roles, especially in manual testing, don’t require coding expertise. You’ll work with tools like Jira, Zephyr, and TestRail to design and manage test cases, track bugs, and ensure the quality of software. These tools require organizational skills, an understanding of software processes, and the ability to think critically—not programming knowledge.
3. Automation is Your Ally, Not a Replacement: Even with the growth of AI and automation, many companies still rely on manual testing to ensure quality. Automation doesn’t replace QA Engineers; instead, it complements manual testing by handling repetitive checks while QA Engineers focus on user experience, interface testing, and overall product quality. Plus, learning the basics of automation testing is easier than learning how to code.
4. Breaking into Tech Without Coding: Becoming a QA Engineer allows you to enter the fast-growing tech industry without needing to invest in coding bootcamps or computer science degrees. The demand for skilled QA professionals continues to rise, as companies need individuals who can test and improve software from the user’s perspective. You can make a significant impact with skills in test case design, bug tracking, and quality assurance processes.
5. A Stepping Stone to Future Opportunities: While coding may not be required to get started, QA offers many paths for career growth. Over time, you can learn automation testing tools, performance testing, or API testing to expand your skills. Whether you choose to stay focused on manual testing or explore more technical roles, QA provides a flexible career path with lots of potential.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Here's the thing, we teach you to apply for EVERYTHING, let your resume speak for you and then let the job tell you NO. Most jobs usually have 3-5 core requirements and the rest is their wish list. And many of the ask for "relevant/equivalent" experience. Some jobs could want to still see a degree or a specific certification, but you apply anyways and let them tell you NO. As of November 2022, over 60+ Road To QA students have been able to land jobs without prior experience, many without a degree and No certifications. If the market starts to ask for more QA Certifications, then we will be sure to shift our program to support that need. But, at this time, we feel confident that you can land your first role without a degree or certifications.
The Road To QA Program is designed to be an affordable Self-paced Program with Support and Mentorship teaching you the Skills, knowledge and Positioning needed to get into the market as a Manual QA Analyst to land your first role, if you follow all of our process recommendations.
There are still commitments and responsibilities you must follow to make this happen, such as completing the program and internship, consistently building recruiter relationships and applying daily to 20-30 jobs, responding to recruiters & interviewing confidently to land your first offer.
However, we do teach you industry best practices and tips to help increase the chances of getting recruiters calls and more interview requests.
Road To QA programs options are digital program intellectual property - All digital program / products are final sales by default. We do not offer refunds in any way.
